It amazes me how many comics want you to do them a favor yet have never reciprocated. Comics love to boldly ask for connections, introductions, and guest spots. The question, of course is, what have you done for me? I feel like this, I hustled my ass to the clubs, sent out the umpteen emails, did the free spots and whatever BS needed to get booked – if I can do it, so can you.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve asked for favors but at least there was a offer on the table. I would offer a spot on a show, or being that I’m a graphic designer, would offer a flyer or web work in exchange for stage time or an introduction. I’ve also had comics do it the right way and in return tried to hook them up.

When I produce shows (which I seldom do), I don’t offer guest spots. This was the way the show was created and this is the way it’ll stay. I try to keep shit professional and organized. I think it’s shitty to walk your ass up to someone’s show and ask for a spot. If it’s offered to you, cool – otherwise, support the show and try to get on the next one. Be a f**king professional!

Don’t be a dick. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Get up, get out and get something! Don’t try to slide in on someone’s hustle – create your own. If this is what you want, then you need to scratch and claw your way to the top the same way the rest us are. There are no short cuts, believe me, if there were I would have found them by now, lol.

I’ve dealt with shitty bookers, bookers that forget about you, comics doing you dirty, family members driving you crazy, jobs you f**king hate, promoters telling you your not getting paid due to NO turnout, and a myriad of other real life situations pushing your goal further and further back. I continue to rock stages and promote, promote, promote!! Will I make it? It’s a hope and a dream. And I will continue traveling to shows, emailing bookers and promoters, updating my website and social media sites, and whatever else I have to to achieve my goal.

So no, I will not help you. Unless you’re contributing to my success, I will not contribute to yours. Get your own shit.
